How to stay safe and well
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is still with us and can spread quickly. To help keep our families and communities safe, we all have to do our part.
Here are simple things you can do to stay safe:
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow.
- Keep a safe distance of at least 1.5 metres from other people.
- Wear a fitted face mask that covers your nose and mouth when leaving home.
- Go to your medical check-ups.
- If you feel sick, stay home. Don’t visit family or go to work.
- Get tested if you have any symptoms and then go straight home.
How to stay safe and well
- You must wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth when you leave home, no matter where you live.
- Keep a safe distance of at least 1.5 metres from other people.
- Wash your hands often.
- If you feel sick, stay home. Don’t go to work.
- Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow.
- If you have any symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), you must get tested
- The coronavirus test is free for everyone. This includes people without a Medicare card, such as visitors from overseas, migrant workers and asylum seekers.
Face masks requirement in Victoria
In Victoria, Every Victorian 12 years and older must wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth when leaving home, unless they have a legal reason not to. For example:
- if you have a medical condition such as a serious skin condition on your face or a breathing problem
- if you are in the car, either alone or with someone from your household
- if you are doing strenuous exercise, but you must still carry a face mask.
From 11:59pm, 11 October you must wear a fitted face mask that covers the nose and mouth. This means that face shields, bandanas, or scarves will no longer be considered a sufficient face covering on their own.
